Monitoring for network, servers and data centre facilities.
Zabbix monitors network devices, servers and data centre facilities via SNMP, agents and templates, and includes alerting and escalation. It is open source and strong for traditional infrastructure with many devices.
We place it in Trial: it fits traditional infrastructure well, but needs template maintenance and an alerting concept. For container and cloud platforms, Prometheus is usually the better choice. Both can be brought together in Grafana.
A good fit if …
- many network devices, UPS, PDUs and cooling systems are monitored via SNMP
- alerting with escalation is to run centrally
- you are looking for monitoring without licence costs
Not a good fit if …
- you mainly monitor dynamic container platforms
- the team prefers monitoring as code with Prometheus
