Artifactory
Central store for packages and images, even without internet access.
Artifactory manages packages, container images and build artefacts in one place and mirrors external sources. In isolated networks, a repository like this is a prerequisite for pipelines, because all dependencies have to be available internally.
We place it in Trial because licensing and operation carry real weight. Alternatives are Sonatype Nexus Repository and the GitLab package registry. Nexus has usage limits in the free Community Edition, and GitLab mirrors external sources only to a limited extent.
A good fit if …
- you manage many package formats
- dependencies must reach isolated networks in a controlled way
- it needs to be traceable which version runs where
Not a good fit if …
- only container images are managed; a registry is enough in that case
- budget and staff for licensing and operation are lacking
