Foreman
Provision servers from scratch and control patch levels.
Foreman provisions physical and virtual servers via network boot, manages their lifecycle and integrates configuration management such as Ansible. The Katello plugin adds package repositories and patch levels, including for networks without internet access through content export and import. Red Hat Satellite is built on Foreman and Katello.
We place it in Trial. It pays off with many Linux servers and bare-metal rollouts. Implementation and maintenance require Linux experience.
A good fit if …
- you provision many Linux servers or bare-metal systems
- patch levels are to be controlled in a traceable way
- isolated networks need internal package repositories
Not a good fit if …
- you mainly operate Windows servers
- only a few servers are running or cloud images are sufficient
