Jenkins
Proven CI server; for new initiatives we recommend integrated platforms.
Jenkins is flexible and has been in use at many organisations for years. The flexibility comes from plugins, and these are exactly what make updates and security laborious.
Existing Jenkins environments can stay if they are well maintained. For new initiatives, we recommend CI systems that combine code, pipelines and approvals in one tool, such as GitLab CI/CD.
A good fit if …
- a well-maintained Jenkins environment is already running
- pipelines use plugins for which there is no replacement elsewhere
Not a good fit if …
- you are building a CI system from scratch
- nobody looks after plugins and updates
